Below is a recap of this weekend’s 8th Annual Lone Gull Race in Gloucester by Mike Pelletier (with contributions from Linda Desjardins). Grand Prix results will be updated next week.

Today in Gloucester at the Lone Gull, at least twenty Striders competed in the USATF/NE 10K Championship. I’ve listed the twenty below. The Lone Gull offered a fair and beautiful course on a day made for running.
Annajean McMahon took a break from her marathon training and returned to the USATF/NE Grand Prix for the first time in a year. The results were magical as Annajean led the NSS Veteran Women’s team to a first place finish over three other Veteran women’s teams, beating the second place team by 4:40 and snagged second place for herself in the Women 60-69 age group. Rounding out this prize-money-winning team were Linda Desjardins and Deb Jackson. Deb had just finished 350 miles of bicycling in Maine over the previous 6 days, but held on gamely to cap the week with a 10K race.
Meanwhile, on the Men’s side, the NSS Male Super Veteran Team of George Geis, Michael Pelletier, and Armand Claveau won the 70+ division, setting them first place in the year-long USATF/NE team competition with only one race, the Manchester City Marathon left in the 2014 series
Linda Desjardins says
Kudos to Mike Pelletier for the excellent write-up, (I was given undeserved credit), to all the runners for leaving NSS footprints on the course, and to Karen for being so quick to post this. Nice showing by all!
