Jerry’s Run For All Ages / November 5, 2022 / Lake Quannapowitt.

The North Shore Striders showed up in force today and not only were we strong in numbers, but we were strong in finishes. We made our presence known, stomping out some award-winning times. The day was unseasonably warm. This race in past years has experienced typical New England weather: rain, snow, wind, flooding, ice – the whole gamut. Today? In the 70’s, revisiting August or September temperatures. It was a day for shorts and singlets. As we ran through the parking lot and then took a left onto the driveway, the temperature was pleasant but warm. When we took the right to circumnavigate Lake Q, we were hit with a moderate headwind. Funny how the term headwind becomes “breeze” when it’s warm. And it was most welcome. The race was scenic and well-organized and there were plenty of marshals on the course assuring our safety. The water stop midway was welcome and needed. It’s always fun to finish ahead of some runners and be able cheer them in. Many did just that. It’s equally enjoyable to BE cheered in!
Post-race refreshments, cookies and brownies and cakes and water were gobbled up as runners mingled and caught up with friends, sharing pleasant conversations, and then came the sacrosanct Harrows Chicken Pie. No one minded waiting in line for that treat! Jerry’s Run always offers numerous awards and gives recognition to a host of runners, conducts raffles, presents cash awards and even salutes an “age graded performance” top ten. Their efforts guarantee every participant is one way or another – in the running.
Here are the Striders who participated, with special kudos to some of our walkers who are recovering from health issues but who were determined NOT to skip the challenge, members’ finishing times and podium placements.
NSS Results: Great job Striders!

Not that I’m late in seeing this…but I just did and realize I was missed. I was the 138th finisher, Linda Desjardins, 2nd (70-74), 33:54. Sorry I wasn’t more on top of things. Too busy doing the write-up 🙂
