The deadline for submitting a request to volunteer at the Boston Marathon is fast approaching! The North Shore Striders have been staffing the mile 12 water station for more years than I can count. It is for this reason that the BAA gives our club so many race numbers each year to run the marathon. If you’d like to join the fun, to see and support some incredible athletes (including several of your teammates who’ll be running), please contact Mary Stevens for more information on how to apply. All interested volunteers must apply by January 6th.
It is an incredible treat and uplift and energy-generator to see my NSS teammates at OUR water stop. It gives me something to look forward to and carries me for a few miles after, too. To me, your water stop is an integral part of the Boston experience. I’m sure you have no idea how much you help me by being there and smiling and hugging and cheering.
